The head of this old cross pein hammer weighs 8 ounces, measures 3 1/2 inches long, and is in good condition. I can only determine the word ‘Tool’ in the arched maker mark, but I firmly believe it to be Atha Tool Co. and am selling it as such. It has been rehandled. Primitive looking, hand made handle. Length: 11 3/4 inches. See photo.

All items sold in as found condition. I buy old tools and things from estate sales, markets and auctions. I buy based purely on aesthetics – age, design, rarity of the maker & model. Do they work properly, or as they did when they were new? I don’t know and don’t guarantee it. I look for collectible, decorative & historical items.
Most of the tools I sell are 50-125 years old and have been used, unless otherwise described. They are going to have wear, rust, staining, dings, chips, cracks, dirt, grease, non original parts, missing parts, ‘marriages’ and any variety of other maladies. There is no way for me to identify in the description every blemish and short coming of a used tool. If you want to buy a tool to be put to use like it was new, go to the Business/Industrial or Home categories on ebay.
Use your common sense, and if you have any specific question or doubts about an item, e-mail me. I will do my best to answer your question. If you haven’t done so, don’t ask for a return or refund.
Every tool collector has his/her own ‘secret way’ to refurbish their collectible tools. So, I don’t touch them and resell them just as they are. Many of the items I sell bear original owners initials or marks. If you are a collector who is adverse to this, please contact me and I will be glad to verify any such markings.
Take a look at my feedback and rest assured, I am not out to misrepresent an item, nor deceive a customer. And, certainly not to make any money! I’m doing this to save a valuable part of American history from going to the landfill.
Don’t get blocked out at auction’s end. Preempt the competition by bidding early.
